Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, 2026, so you have about four weeks to set alerts. We compared eight apps on October 31, 2026 using their Google Play and App Store listings: ratings on both stores, last update, and what data each one shares.

No single Black Friday app does everything. Each pick below does one job well, so most people will want two of them.

- ShopSavvy: best for scanning a barcode in the store and checking other prices.
- Fetch: best for points on receipts you'd get anyway, with no card or bank details needed.
- Brad's Deals: hand-picked deals with alerts by push or email. Better on iPhone than Android.
- Rakuten: cash back at 3,500 brands, if you can wait until 2027 to be paid.
How we chose these Black Friday apps
We didn't install and test these apps. On October 31, 2026 we opened each one's US Google Play listing and pulled its US App Store record from Apple, then noted the rating, review count, installs, last update and Google Play's Data safety summary. We used US store listings; ratings and availability differ in other countries, and Rakuten's payout schedule is for its US program. Every feature claim comes from the developer's own listing. It's the same listing-first approach we used for our short drama app rankings and the offline workout planner comparison.
The ranking puts Black Friday fit first: does the app help you find or check a deal before you pay? Then we looked at the lower of its two store ratings, because that's the one that warns you. Update dates and data sharing broke ties. Retailer apps like Amazon and Target aren't ranked, because each one only shows its own store.
Store ratings don't agree: Android vs iPhone
Seven of the eight apps rate higher on the App Store than on Google Play. Usually the gap is small. For two of them it isn't, and that matters if you're on Android.
- Rakuten: 3.3 on Google Play (74.6K reviews) vs 4.8 on iPhone (361,976 ratings). That's a 1.5-star gap.
- Brad's Deals: 3.9 on Google Play vs 4.9 on iPhone. The top Play review, marked helpful by 153 people, says the app freezes when you try to set a deal notification.
- Keepa: 4.2 on Google Play vs 4.8 on iPhone, though the iPhone score rests on just 1,549 ratings.
- ShopSavvy: 4.0 vs 4.4. Slickdeals: 4.4 vs 4.8.
- Black Friday 2026 Deals & Ads: 4.5 vs 4.7. Fetch: 4.7 vs 4.9.
- Flipp is the only one that's level, at 4.8 on both.
Android users who want cash back without the complaints might read the Rakuten reviews first. The most helpful ones are about cash back that stays pending for months.
Which apps are still being updated?
Holiday apps live or die by fresh data, so we checked when each build last changed. Fifteen of the 16 store builds (eight apps on two stores) were updated between October 3 and October 30, 2026.
The exception is a big one. The Android build of Black Friday 2026 Deals & Ads on Google Play was last updated on November 17, 2025, almost a year ago, and it has only 502 reviews and 50K+ downloads. The iPhone version got two updates on October 3, 2026, adding new sorting and filtering, and it now has 10,762 ratings. The iPhone listing also says saved deals update when prices change. If you have both kinds of device, use the iPhone app for ad scans.
Which Black Friday deals app shares your data?
Google Play makes every developer declare what it collects and shares. Three of our eight say they share nothing with third parties: Slickdeals (which collects location), Keepa and Black Friday 2026 Deals & Ads. The ad-scan app also says your data can't be deleted.
The other five do share data:
- Fetch: location, personal info and seven other data types
- Flipp: location, personal info and four others
- ShopSavvy: location, personal info and three others
- Rakuten: personal info, financial info and two others
- Brad's Deals: location, app activity and two others
All five let you request deletion. Still, if you only want price alerts, Keepa or Slickdeals will do it without the extra sharing.
Cash back after Black Friday: when Rakuten actually pays
Cash back looks like instant savings. It isn't. Rakuten's help page on payouts says online and in-store cash back typically takes 3 to 14 weeks to be confirmed, and payments go out four times a year: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15. You need $5 or more in confirmed cash back to be paid.
Here's the maths for a purchase on November 27, 2026. Three weeks later is December 18, 2026; fourteen weeks later is March 5, 2027. If the store confirms before February 15, you're paid then, 80 days after Black Friday. If it confirms after, you wait for May 15, 2027, which is 169 days. One Play reviewer said in May 2025 they were still waiting for Black Friday cash back. So count Rakuten as a 2027 rebate, not as money for gifts this year.
What to look for in a Black Friday app
Most store pages promise the same things. In November, these are the features that actually matter:
- Ad scans or circulars. Store ad scans let you plan before the sale; the ad-scan app adds them as stores release them, and Flipp has weekly ads.
- Alerts for one product. Slickdeals Deal Alerts, Flipp's Watch List, Keepa's price-drop alerts and Brad's Deals' push or email alerts all do this.
- Price history. A big "was" price means nothing without a chart. Keepa shows years of Amazon prices.
- Sane price lists. ShopSavvy's latest Android update says it now holds back prices far below every other store's.
- Your platform. Check the rating on your own store, not the other one (see the gaps above).
- Data sharing. Read the Data safety box before you sign up for rewards.
Apps we left out
PayPal Honey is the obvious one. Its Android app is rated 1.9 from 10.6K reviews, and the most helpful review says the browser extension works but the Android app is "frustrating and nearly useless." Use the extension on a computer if you like Honey.
Store apps like Amazon, Walmart, Target and Best Buy are useful too. Apple features Amazon, Walmart and Target in its Best Apps for Black Friday story. Install the ones for stores you already shop at. They just can't tell you whether another store is cheaper.
